Opened in the early 2000s, it provides a striking contrast between its sleek, contemporary design and the 18th-century Georgian architecture of the surrounding Belvedere House. The theatre features a highly adaptable auditorium with fully retractable raked seating, allowing it to transition from a 500-seat tiered theatre to a large flat-floor space for 1,000 people standing. It is a key venue for the Dublin Theatre Festival and is renowned for having one of the widest stages in the city, making it a favorite for everything from contemporary drama and dance to orchestral performances and high-profile corporate events.
Accessibility
The O'Reilly Theatre is a modern, purpose-built facility designed with accessibility in mind:

Hearing Support: Note: Recent access guides indicate there is currently no permanent induction loop system in the house.

The O'Reilly Theatre is located within the historic Belvedere College campus in Dublin 1. While there is no private patron parking on-site, the following options are available:

On-Street Parking: "Pay-and-Display" parking is available on Great Denmark Street, Temple Street, and North Great George’s Street. Charges apply according to Dublin City Council rates.
Public Transport: The venue is highly accessible via public transport, being within walking distance of the Luas Green Line (Parnell stop) and numerous major bus routes serving O'Connell Street and Mountjoy Square.
Café & Bar
Theatre Bar: A fully licensed bar is located in the theatre foyer. It typically opens one hour before performances and during intervals, serving a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (both cash and card are accepted).
Private Dining: The venue features historic rooms within Belvedere House (such as the James Joyce Library) which can be booked for private corporate dining and receptions.
Nearby Dining: Being just off Parnell Square, the theatre is surrounded by excellent restaurants. The Old Music Shop Restaurant (1-minute walk) is a popular choice that offers a specific "Pre-Theatre Menu" for patrons.
