It is world-renowned for its stunning "Matcham Auditorium," which features ornate Indian-style carvings, painted ceilings, and gold-leaf finishes. Following a massive £12.2 million restoration in 2020-2021, the venue combines its historic grandeur with 21st-century facilities. With a capacity of approximately 1,000 seats, it hosts a world-class programme of West End musicals, opera, dance, drama, and the city’s record-breaking annual pantomime. It is widely considered one of the most beautiful theatres in the UK and Ireland.
