Originally built in 1855 and rebuilt twice (most recently in 1965 and 1993), it is a landmark of Cork’s cultural identity. It features a magnificent 1,000-seat main auditorium and one of the largest stages in the country, capable of handling massive scenic changes for large-scale productions. The venue hosts a world-class annual programme including the famous Cork Jazz Festival events, prestigious operas, the city's beloved Christmas Panto, and major touring musical theatre and comedy acts. Its striking modern glass-fronted foyer offers beautiful views over the River Lee and the historic Crawford Art Gallery.
