Dance World Cup 2026 Dublin: The Ultimate World Finals Survival Guide
Venue: The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD)
Location: Spencer Dock, Dublin 1, Ireland
Dates: 8 July – 18 July 2026
Welcome to Dublin! Whether you are traveling from across Ireland or flying in from South Africa, Portugal, or Singapore, competing at the World Finals requires careful planning. This guide covers everything from the stage schedule to the best places to stay and shop.
Event Schedule: When to Visit
The competition is split into two halves. Plan your travel based on your dancer's age category:
Part 1: Mini & Children (Ages 4–13)
Main Competition: 8 July – 12 July
Grand Finals Day: 13 July
Part 2: Junior & Senior (Ages 14–25)
Main Competition: 14 July – 17 July
Grand Finals Day & Gala: 18 July
Travel Tip: The "Changeover Day" is 13 July. If your school has students in both categories, we recommend booking a single 10-night stay to avoid the mid-week hotel rush.
Arriving in Dublin
Dublin Airport (DUB) is the primary gateway for international teams.
The Port Tunnel Advantage: The CCD is located just 15 minutes from the airport via the Dublin Port Tunnel.
Transport for Groups: Direct coaches like Dublin Express run every 30 minutes to Custom House Quay (a 5-minute walk to the CCD). For schools of 10+, pre-booking a private coach through Dualway or Aircoach is recommended for a direct hotel transfer.
Where to Stay: Best "Team" Neighborhoods
For dance families, extra space for costumes and meal prep is essential.
The Docklands (Walking Distance): This is the most convenient area. The Samuel Hotel and Beckett Locke offer high-end stays literally steps from the venue.
Staycity Aparthotels (Recommended): Located at City Quay and Mark Street, these apartments offer full kitchens and living areas—perfect for teams who want a "home away from home."
Smithfield (LUAS Red Line): A more budget-friendly area. You can take the LUAS (tram) directly from Smithfield to the CCD front door in approximately 15 minutes.
Gear & Supplies: Shop Local
Save luggage space and avoid customs delays by sourcing your essentials in Ireland.
Official Teamwear: For custom Irish team tracksuits and gear, Malley Sport (Dublin-based) is the leading supplier. Note that custom orders typically require a 6-week lead time.
Dancewear Essentials: Need fresh ribbons, tights, or shoes for the stage? Visit Dance World on Parnell Street (Dublin City Centre) or order your Bloch performance gear here.
Local Suppliers: Other trusted Irish shops include The Dance Shop and Studio Dancewear, who specialize in school uniform requirements.
Visa & Entry Requirements
EU/UK Dancers: No visa required.
International Dancers: Check the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) website immediately. Some countries require a "Short Stay Conference/Event" visa.
Vetting: Irish law requires specific background checks (Garda Vetting) for those working with children. Ensure your school principal has the DWC-approved paperwork ready for the Irish authorities.
Quick Dublin Survival Tips
The Weather: July in Ireland can be 20°C and sunny or 14°C and raining in the same hour. Pack layers!
The "Leap Card": Purchase a "Visitor Leap Card" at the airport for unlimited travel on Dublin buses, the LUAS (tram), and DART (train).
Power Adapters: Ireland uses Type G plugs (3-pin square).
Group Travel & Leap Cards
Traveling with a school? Don't pay cash on the bus—it's expensive and slow.
The Leap Visitor Card: For international teams, we recommend the Leap Visitor Card (1, 3, or 7 days). It gives you unlimited travel on the LUAS, DART, and Dublin Bus. You can order these online and have them delivered to your home country (UK, Europe, and Rest of World) before you fly so every student has their card the moment they land.
Dublin Express Group Discount: Traveling as a school of 20 or more? Dublin Express offers a 20% discount on airport transfers. You must book at least 5 days in advance.

The 90-Minute Fare: If you use a standard Leap Card, you can transfer between the bus and the LUAS (tram) for free within 90 minutes. It costs just €0.65 for children (under 18) and €2.00 for adults.
Top Dublin Summer Intensives (July 2026)
Make the most of your trip by joining an elite training program. Many of Ireland’s top schools are within a short commute of the Convention Centre:
The College of Dance Summer Intensive: (13 July – 17 July)
Venue: St. Catherine’s Sports Centre, Dublin 8.
Insider Tip: This venue is just a 5-minute walk from the Fatima LUAS stop (Red Line). If you are staying at Staycity City Quay, you can hop on the tram at Busáras and be at the studio in about 20 minutes.
The Dance Institute Summer Intensive: (20 July – 24 July)
Venue: DanceHouse, Foley Street.
Ballet Ireland Summer Intensive: (27 July – 8 August)
Venue: DanceHouse, Foley Street.
Pro Tip: Getting to the Studios
If you are attending a Summer Intensive while in Dublin, the LUAS Red Line (tram) is your best friend. It connects the World Finals venue (CCD) directly to the top studios:
To DanceHouse (Foley St): Take the LUAS Red Line from Mayor Square (outside the CCD) to Busáras. It’s a 2-stop, 4-minute trip, followed by a 2-minute walk to the studio.
To The College of Dance (Dublin 8): Take the LUAS Red Line to the Fatima stop. The studio is a 5-minute walk from there.
The "90-Minute Fare": Use your Leap Card to tap on/off. Any journey within 90 minutes across buses and trams costs a flat rate (currently €2.00 for adults, €0.65 for kids), making it very affordable for teams.
