Overview
Former English National Ballet and Dutch National Ballet dancer Jaione Zabala teaches a three-hour ballet masterclass at DanceHouse, Dublin, on Monday 23 November 2026, from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. Dance Ireland runs it with Luail, Ireland's National Dance Company. It suits dancers with a solid or advanced ballet technique and costs €30, or less for Dance Ireland members.

What the class covers
The afternoon has two parts. A Gyrokinesis warm-up from 12.30pm to 2.15pm works on transitions, oppositions and rotation before moving into centre work that travels through the space. A repertoire workshop from 2.30pm to 3.30pm looks at muscle tone, building and releasing tension, weight shifts and using momentum. The aim is movement that is fully felt and intended, with fewer mechanical shapes.
About Jaione Zabala
Jaione Zabala trained in Gernika and danced with Ballet de Euskadi, English National Ballet, Dutch National Ballet and Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballett. She was Ballet Mistress at Oper Graz Ballett and Rehearsal Director at Hessisches Staatsballett, and now guest-teaches ballet and Gyrokinesis internationally.
