Welcome to the official auditions for the Irish National Youth Ballet's upcoming season! Held at DanceHouse, Dublin 1, this is an incredible opportunity for dedicated young dancers to join Ireland's premier all-island youth ballet company.

Key Audition Details for 2026:

• Dates: Saturday, May 23rd & Sunday, May 24th, 2026.

• Location: DanceHouse, 1 Foley Street, Dublin 1.

• Who Can Apply: Talented ballet students aged 10–21.

• Requirement: Dancers must be training in classical ballet at an intermediate or advanced level.

Dress Attire & Preparation Requirements

• Dress Attire: Dancers must present a neat, professional appearance. Please wear a plain, solid-colored leotard, clean pink ballet tights (worn inside the shoes), and flat ballet shoes. Hair must be securely fastened in a neat, classical ballet bun.

• Restrictions: No skirts, warm-up gear, or jewelry are permitted in the audition room, as the panel needs to see clear alignment and technique.

• Pointe Work: Senior ladies must bring pointe shoes.

• Commitment: By auditioning, dancers and parents acknowledge the required commitment. INYB members must attend rehearsals every Saturday, alongside intensive rehearsals during Midterm and Easter breaks.

Eligible Dancers

• Dedicated ballet students aged 10 to 21 years old.

• Applicants must currently be attending regular ballet classes with a recognized ballet teacher (please ensure you inform your teacher that you are auditioning).

• Dancers are evaluated and placed into Junior, Intermediate, and Senior companies based on age, ability, and maturity.

• Note: Dancers turning 16 before September of the upcoming season must audition for the Senior Company.

The Audition Process

• Professional Technical Assessment: A full audition class led by the INYB Artistic Director and international faculty members.

• Company Placement: Evaluation for positions within the Junior (Ages 10-15), Intermediate, or Senior (Ages 16-21) Company based on age, technical ability, and maturity.

• Performance Path: Successful dancers are eligible for casting in major upcoming productions (e.g., The Nutcracker or Cinderella).

• No Solo Required: Applicants are evaluated entirely on their performance during the audition class; no prepared solo work is necessary.

• Pointework Evaluation: Specific assessment for Senior Company female applicants to determine technical readiness.

• Comprehensive Training: Successful members gain access to weekly Saturday rehearsals and intensive training blocks during Midterm and Easter breaks.

• Please note: There is no need to prepare any solo work or variations in advance. The panel is looking for potential, technique, and teachability during the class.

• Dates, Location & Arrival Time

• Audition Day 1 (Seniors & Males): Saturday, 23rd May 2026

• Audition Day 2 (Juniors & Associates): Sunday, 24th May 2026

  • Location: DanceHouse, 1 Foley Street, Dublin 1.

  • Arrival Time: Please arrive strictly 15 to 20 minutes prior to your allocated audition slot. This allows enough time for sign-in and a personal physical warm-up before entering the studio.

  • Drop & Go Policy: To maintain a focused environment and adhere to venue capacity, parents/guardians are not permitted in the studio or waiting areas. Please drop your dancer off at the main entrance and return promptly for pick-up when their audition class concludes.
