Romeo and Juliet on tour, World Ballet Day and midterm camps
7 October 2026
By now the new term has settled in. The new leotards are worn in, Saturday class is a habit again, and in studios all over the country the talk has already turned to Christmas shows.
It’s one of the nicest times of the year to love ballet, so here’s what’s coming up, on stage and at home. And if you found us through the giveaway, you’re very welcome.
The Ballet of Lights winner

We drew the giveaway on 14 September. Ricky from Dublin 3 is going to Ballet of Lights: Sleeping Beauty at the O’Reilly Theatre on Sunday 8 November. Congratulations, Ricky.
Didn’t win this time? Tickets start at €26, and there are three Sundays to choose from: 8 November, 6 December and 16 January, each at 4pm and 6pm.

5 to 7 November, Cork: Cork City Ballet opens Nutcracker season at Cork Opera House with The Nutcracker. Tickets €36 to €48.

Planning a Nutcracker for December? Four Irish productions are confirmed so far, in Cork, Newtownabbey, Letterkenny and Wexford.
World Ballet Day: watch The Royal Ballet’s class for free

On Thursday 29 October, ballet companies around the world let the cameras into their studios. From 11.30am Irish time you can watch The Royal Ballet’s company class live, then stay for the rehearsals. No ticket and no cost.
This year the Royal Ballet School turns 100, and its founder, Ninette de Valois, was born near Blessington in Co. Wicklow.
