Kildare Youth Ballet Company Auditions 2026/27

Kildare Youth Ballet Company holds auditions on Saturday 5 September 2026 for its 2026/27 season, at Monread Community Centre, Maudlins Avenue, Naas, Co Kildare, W91 FNV9.

This is an open audition, with all candidates taking part together. It is class based, so there is no need to prepare a solo. Presentation and performance are looked at alongside technique. Places are limited, decisions are made on merit and ability, and placement into Associates, Group A or Group B is announced after the audition.

The audition fee is €15, payable on the day by card or cash. The audition questionnaire must be completed and returned on or before the audition.

What to wear: a leotard, pink ballet tights, and a skirt if you wish, with hair in a neat ballet bun. There is no pointe work. Warm-up layers come off before the class starts, and bring plenty of water.

The 2025/26 season included the Irish National Ballet Competition, workshops and a production of The Nutcracker.

Dancers from Grade 2 ballet upwards, to age 25, from any school.

Every applicant must also be taking at least one other ballet technique class outside KYBC. The company’s own classes are performance based rather than technique based, so that outside training is a requirement rather than a preference.

The audition questionnaire asks about your dance school, how many ballet classes you take each week, your most recent exam, whether you are en pointe, and any injuries. A high level of commitment is expected.

Arrive at 2.30pm to prepare and warm up. The class begins at 3pm sharp and runs until 4.15pm.

Through the season, company classes run on Sundays, with some additional Fridays and Saturdays ahead of performances. Rehearsal dates are confirmed when required and usually follow company classes on Sundays.
